The Tribes Coffee men’s and women’s teams have bounced back into the winner’s circle to keep their championship hopes alive following their gritty wins over the Togoba Coffee (men’s) and Saints Pirates (women’s) in the Port Moresby Elite Basketball (PEB) competition Semi-Finals on Wednesday night, November 13th, 2024, at the Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex.

After losing to the CivPac Amesii men’s and women’s teams in the Major Semi Finals last Wednesday (November 6th), the Tribes Coffee sides had a chance each to redeem themselves, which they utilized their final shot and booked their respective Grand Final spots to have a rematch with the CivPac-sponsored outfits on the biggest arena.

In the opening double-header fixture of the preliminary finals showdown, the Saints Pirates and Tribes Coffee women’s teams displayed a thrilling and evenly-contested match that went down to the wire, where the Tribes edged the Saints in a narrow 63-57 victory. The Saints went on a fiery start and dominated the game in the first and second quarters. However, the Tribes regrouped and tightened their grip in the last two quarters to seal the deal.

On the flip side, the men’s battle of the coffees was a very intense and physical game, keeping the bumper crowd on the edge of their seats. The Tribes Coffee and Togoba Coffee did not disappoint, as they rose to the occasion and showcased an entertaining blockbuster, giving the fans what they anticipated. The Tribes took things under control from the first quarter to the final quarter and prevailed over Togoba with a 76-62 win.

With no love lost between the CivPac Amesii and Tribes Coffee, the stage is now set for the two heavyweights as the star-studded players from both men’s and women’s divisions lock heads and battle for supremacy to claim the coveted inaugural title of the Port Moresby Elite Basketball (PEB) competition on Sunday, November 24th, 2024, at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Center.
