PEB Tips Off Round 1

The Port Moresby Elite Basketball (PEB) commenced its opening round on Sunday, 24 May 2026, at Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex. 

Four men’s games kicked off the season, featuring CivPac Amesii, Tribes Coffee, Southern Sailors, Moni Plus Tamaraws, Triple B, Northwest Wizards, ACL Kings, and Bulls. 

Dusting off the cobwebs, the 8 men’s teams rose to the challenge and competed fiercely and courageously against each other, aiming for the win to start the season on the front foot.     

Running in its third season, PEB Director Lawrence Lahari has stressed the importance of each club prioritizing development pathways.

“It’s PEB’s third season now, so we are emphasizing that clubs should have development teams and clear development pathways,” he said.

A new Amateur Basketball competition was launched recently to supply emerging talent to the elite competition as the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea aims to professionalize the code.

Meanwhile, the women’s Round 1 games will start on Sunday, comprising CivPac Amesii, Tribes Coffee, Northwest Wizards, WB Kutubu Lakers, Saints, and Kondo East.
