The Port Moresby Australian Football League (POMAFL) is currently in round 1 of its Moni Plus POMAFL Competition.
POM AFL President, Douglas Lai, stated on Saturday, May 11th, saying that the men’s competition had a few more games to be played before heading into round 2.
Mr. Lai said the women’s divisions had completed their round one games.
"The women will start their round 2 next weekend and have 5 games to play before heading into the finals," he said.
Based on the results from the previous weekend's games, Lai shared the current standings.
"In the A Grade, we have West Eagles leading the competition, followed by Magpies, Bombers, and Koboni in fourth," said President Lai.
"In the A-Reserves, we have Dockers, University Tigers, West Eagles, and Gereka Bombers.
“In the women's division, we have Gerehu Magpies, West Eagles, Concept Koboni, and Gereka Bombers in fourth place.”
Mr. Lai mentioned that the 2024 season has been progressing well.
"We are pleased that our season is going smoothly this year and we appreciate our sponsor Moni Plus for continuously supporting us,” Lai said.
"We are looking forward to a successful conclusion of the season.”
The main game on Saturday, May 11th, saw the TSI Lamana Dockers dominate the Concept Koboni in all quarters of the match, finishing with a commanding 61-16 victory.
This 2024 POM AFL season has 8 teams for men's (A-Grade and A-Reserve Grade) and 5 teams for the women's competition.
