NCD Corporate Beach Volleyball Competition starts Round 1

The 2025 NCD Corporate Beach Volleyball Competition (Season 2) served up a spectacular first round of games at Ela Beach, with top corporate teams battling it out in the Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Divisions.
Under the blazing Port Moresby sun, teams showcased not only their skills and strategies but also the corporate spirit of teamwork, fitness, and camaraderie.
The mixed division — featuring two men and two women per team — produced some of the most exciting matches of the day.
In Pool A, Sunev Teews emerged as an early frontrunner, defeating Digicel (2–0, 21–12, 21–19) and PMNEC (2–0, 21–8, 21–9) in straight sets.
However, DOE turned heads with their comeback performance, beating both Digicel (2–1, 17–21, 21–15, 15–1) and Sunev Teews (2–1, 21–17, 22–24, 15–9) in high-energy games that kept the spectators cheering.
Meanwhile, the IRC2 team earned a hard-fought 2–1 win over Digicel, showing grit and coordination on the sandy court.
In Pool B, Elegant came out strong, winning both their matches against IRC1 (2–0, 22–20, 21–8) and Stanley Hotel (2–0, 21–14, 21–11). IRC1 showed resilience, taking a tight 2–1 victory over Stanley Hotel (10–21, 22–20, 16–14).
The Women’s Division saw fierce competition and strategic plays, with teams giving it their all in long rallies and close finishes.
In Pool A, DOE stood tall, securing crucial wins over Digicel (2–1, 21–23, 21–13, 15–8), Sunev Teews (2–1, 20–22, 21–14, 15–5), and IRC2 (2–0, 21–19, 21–15).
Sunev Teews also put on a strong showing, defeating PMNEC (2–0, 21–13, 21–13) and IRC2 (2–0, 21–13, 23–21) to stay in the top mix.
Digicel proved their potential with a win over IRC2 (2–0, 21–19, 22–20), while IRC2 gained valuable experience, despite facing tough opposition.
In Pool B, the defending champions, Stanley Hotel, started their title defense with strong wins over IRC1 (2–0, 21–13, 21–16) and Elegant (2–1, 21–16, 8–21, 15–10). Elegant bounced back to claim a solid win against IRC1 (2–0, 21–19, 22–20), keeping the pool wide open.
The Men’s Division delivered explosive action, featuring powerful serves and lightning-fast rallies that kept the fans on their toes.
In Pool A, Sunev Teews — one of the favorites — defeated both DOE (2–1, 19–21, 21–5, 15–12) and IRC2 (2–1, 21–14, 19–21, 15–10) in thrilling three-set encounters, asserting their dominance early in the competition.
In Pool B, Elegant proved unstoppable, sweeping both Stanley Hotel (2–0, 21–13, 21–11) and IRC1 (2–0, 21–13, 21–17) with clinical precision.
IRC1 bounced back later to edge out Stanley Hotel (2–1, 19–21, 21–18, 15–8) in an intense, crowd-pleasing battle.
With Round 1 complete, the competition is heating up, with teams returning to Ela Beach this weekend to complete their remaining pool games and battle for a place in the finals set for Saturday, 8th November 2025.
The 2025 season promises more excitement, teamwork, and spectacular beach volleyball action as corporate teams continue to bring their A-game to the sandy court.
