Muri Steers Togoba Coffee to Semi Final

Papua New Guinea 5x5 seasoned basketball player, Purari Muri’s outstanding performance powered the Togoba Coffee to the preliminary final following their gutsy 93-89 victory over the valiant ACL Kings in the Port Moresby Elite Basketball (PEB) competition elimination final on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, at Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex.

Muri was efficient on the court, scoring 30 points, getting 17 rebounds and making 9 assists, shying away from 1 point to pull off a triple-double statistics. The veteran basketballer claimed the Man-of-the-Match honors and helped his team survive the sudden-death elimination.

In a high stakes game, Togoba Coffee and ACL Kings went firing on all cylinders and left everything on the court in the first quarter, setting the tempo for the ensuing three quarters of the match. The experienced Togoba Coffee maintained their lead from the first quarter until the final quarter and edged the youthful Kings in a pulsating finish.

The Togoba Coffee side had the services of a few PNG representatives in the likes of Purari Muri, Obert Muri, Tony Haro and Michael Henry, while the Kings fielded a very young and emerging team, who showed glimpses of dominating the competition in the not-too-distant-future.

It was a very physical and intense neck-and-neck thrilling affair that went down to the wire, keeping the bumper crowd on the edge of their seats. When it mattered the most in crunch time, Togoba used their experience to shatter the determined Kings.

Togoba Coffee will play the loser of CivPac Amesii and Tribes Coffee in the preliminary final next week Tuesday, November 12th. Amesii and Tribes will meet tonight (November 6th) in the Majo Semi Final and the winner will advance to the grand final, while the losing team will face Togoba.

Meanwhile, in the opening match of the women’s elimination final, the Saints Pirates have defeated the Gerehu Wizards with a 64-56 margin. The Saints will play the loser of CivPac Amessi and Tribes Coffee in the preliminary final next Tuesday.
