Lane Lawyers crowned the Champions of PM's Corporate Golf Challenge

The Lane Lawyers Corporate Golf team was crowned the Champions of the 2023 Prime Minister's Corporate Golf Challenge on 22nd September, 2023, at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club.

The 2023 PM's Corporate Golf is the biggest golf charity event in the country, with more than fifty corporate houses taking part in the Charity Tournament to help raise funds to support Team PNG, which will be taking part in the Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands from November 19th - December 2nd, 2023.

The Lane Lawyers' team was made up of Gideon Titori, Wani Dibong, Tony Nuki, and Jim Allen, who have claimed a back-to-back title after having won the Santos Daffodil Golf challenge in August this year.

The PM's Golf Challenge was a one-day tournament that has been officially teed off by Prime Minister Hon. James Marape, who is the Patron of the Charity event. Marape expressed his delight with the number of corporate houses that showed up and thanked the PNG Olympic team for their dedication.

"Today's event follows our tradition of 25 years of continuous Prime Ministers' Charity Golf, as well as PNG Sports Foundation and PNG Olympic Committee, engaging with the private and public sector, citizens and corporate bodies, all contribute to a worthy cause, and I would like to appreciate them all for showing up."

"This year, we have an overwhelming number of teams and possibly the highest number of teams

that the tournament has ever seen. That is a positive indication that our corporate sectors have come out to embrace sports to add good to the country. The main focus of this event is to ensure there is support for the PNG team, and of course, the National Government will also be the major contributor to the team that will go for the Pacific Games but it is warming to see corporate events stepping up to support," Marape emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Founder of PM's Corporate Golf Challenge and President of the PNG Olympic Committee, Sir John Dawanincura, shared a brief background of the event and thanked the Prime Minister for being there.

"This Challenge was founded in 1998. At that time, it was officiated by Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, who graced us with his presence and supported us all the way through. The purpose of this challenge is to raise funds to support the PNG Golf Team that would be going to the Pacific Games in Honiara," said Sir Dawanincura.

All proceeds of the event will go straight into the PNG Golf Team. The next event of the PM's Challenge will be at Lae on September 29, 2023.
