IRC Clinch PSNA Title

The Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) snatched the Public Servants Netball Association (PSNA) title after beating the Bank of Papua New Guinea (BPNG) with a 24-21 win in the Premier Division on Saturday, 28 February 2026, at Rita Flynn Courts in Port Moresby.

IRC and BPNG met in last year’s grand final, where the bankers edged out the tax ladies to claim their first premier division title. 

In their previous encounter in the semifinals before last weekend, the top two teams battled out in a thrilling grand final qualifier, where IRC beat BPNG. 

While IRC advanced to the decider, BPNG utilized their second chance, defeating the PNG Sports Foundation last weekend to have a rematch with IRC in the big dance, but fell short.  

Determined to take revenge on IRC, BPNG put their feet down and controlled the opening quarter, taking an 8-3 lead at the break.

Last year’s champions (BPNG) continued their dominance in the second quarter, extending their lead to 15-9 at the breather.

The bankers maintained their lead at the end of the third quarter with a 19-15 score. However, IRC regrouped in the last quarter to upset BPNG with a 24-21 victory. 

BPNG were in total control of the match in three quarters, but the tax women found their rhythm in the fourth quarter to stun the reigning premiers.
