Swallowtail swallow Green Moon to claim inaugural BNL title

The Blue Mountain Swallowtail were crowned the inaugural Champions of the Butterfly Netball League (BNL) after triumphing over the spirited Sepik Green Moon with a thrilling 45-44 scoreline on Sunday, 3 May 2026, at Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex.
The match was a physical, tight contest that went down to the wire, leaving the fans on the edge of their seats. The Swallowtail mounted a comeback in the third quarter to shock the Green Moon in a high-octane decider.
Ladder leaders, Sepik Green Moon, put their foot down and took a 12-11 lead in the opening quarter and extended their lead to 24-22 at half-time, setting the tone for a bruising third and fourth quarters, respectively.
After the break, the contest reached its peak, with Swallowtail overtaking the Green Moon with a 33-32 margin at the end of the third quarter. The eventual champions maintained their lead and edged out the Green Moon with a nail-biting 1-point (45-44) result.
Serah Mai, Lesieli Taviri, Clera Scott, and Laurwin Rikis were instrumental in Swallowtail’s hard-fought victory, with the quartet proving their mettle in defence and offence to shut down the courageous Green Moon outfit.
