A very intense and equally fought first quarter ended with 22-21 points, which was in favor of the Tribes Coffee. The CivPac Amesii flexed their muscles in the remaining three quarters and took things under control to defeat the valiant men in green.
Moses Lune from the Amesii team had an exceptional performance, registering 30 points and collecting 11 rebounds to bag the Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors. The ever-reliable Lune rose to the challenge and made his presence known, playing an important role in Amesii’s victory.
Amesii coach, Junior Wambi said it was a very entertaining but close game, though his boys led the contest by 21 points at half-time. Wambi congratulated his men for the win and credited the Tribes for putting up a spirited fight.
In addition, PEB Director, Lawrence Lahari expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the inaugural season and congratulated the winners and losers of both men’s and women’s divisions. He also thanked the passionate fans of each team for their support and good behavior.
Lahari further acknowledged the financial assistance of the major sponsor ExxonMobil, including the minor sponsors like Togoba Coffee, Tribes Coffee, to name a few. Without the support of these business houses or companies, the competition wouldn’t have been possible.
He also thanked PEB Patron David Wereh, BFPNG President David Peter, and Patron Charles Abel, among other distinguished figures for their contributions in making the 2024 PEB competition a successful season and looking forward to a bigger and better season in 2025.
Meanwhile, with the support of BFPNG, Mr. Lahari mentioned that they would expand the competition to a semi-professional competition a few years later, which will be similar to the Digicel-ExxonMobil Cup or Premier Soccer League.
