The Har Hurum Tribes Coffee men’s and women’s teams pulled off two commanding victories in Round 1, game 4 (men’s) and game 2 (women’s) of the Port Moresby Elite Basketball (PEB) last night (June 11th) at Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex.
The women’s team dominated the Saints with a comprehensive 75-33 scoreline, while the men’s outfit secured a 77-55 win over the ACL Kings. Opening the double-header fixture, the women in green went firing on all cylinders, dominating all four quarters and blowing the hapless Saints off the court.
Experienced campaigner Betty Angula nearly scored a triple-double, recording 13 points, 9 assists, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals, followed by Velarie Maikai’s 18 points, 1 assist, and 4 rebounds. Margaret Kevin bagged 10 points, Jonitha Warabe registered 8 points, Joan Kola and Prudence Ipape scored 6 points each, Sabatina Henry recorded 5 points, Delta Lare secured 4 points, and Eshlyn Jack and Cynthia Baia picked up 2 points each.
On the flip side, the Tribes Coffee men’s team trailed the high-flying ACL Kings in the first quarter. However, the two-time grand finalists (2024-2025) regrouped in the second quarter, controlling the third and final quarters of the high-octane clash to clinch a strong win.
Allan Millard stuffed the stats sheets, scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 assist. Jesse Pine registered 12 points, 9 assists, 3 steals, and 4 rebounds. Cornelius Muri and Max Warabe scored 10 points, respectively, followed by Solira Nondi’s 9 points, Collin Pine’s 7 points, Emmanuel Parapa’s 5 points, and Himson Kaia’s 3 points.
The Tribes Coffee women’s team started their season with two straight wins, and the men’s side tasted their first loss in the opening round against the CivPac Amessi, but rebounded in round 2, registering three consecutive wins.
The Har Hurum Tribes Coffee-sponsored teams are sitting in the top two positions in their respective divisions and look forward to maintaining their winning streak in the coming rounds of the elite competition.
