Tribes Coffee Exact Revenge on CivPac Amesii

The 2025 Port Moresby Elite Basketball (PEB) competition hosted some fierce and competitive games over the last 10 rounds, but the rivalry between the Tribes Coffee and CivPac Amesii is like no other.

Amesii and Tribes met in the inaugural PEB men’s grand final competition last year, which saw the CivPac-sponsored outfit edge the Tribes Coffee-backed team to be crowned the pioneer champions of the elite competition.

Rubbing salt into the wound, Amesii beat Tribes in their early encounter during the 2025 season. However, Tribes regrouped and made a statement yesterday night (June 22), dominating the Gary Holmes-coached men and redeeming themselves.

Suffering two losses to the Amesii in the 2025 decider and during the earlier part of this season, Tribes had a point to prove and they did so comprehensively, stamping their authority and showcasing their championship pedigree.

As anticipated, this match-up was predicted to be intense and physical. It was a neck-and-neck battle in the first three quarters, with the Tribes taking things under control. The Collin Pine-led Tribes team maintained their lead from the first quarter to the final quarter, thumping the Amesii with a 57-43 win.

Eddie Moses stacked up the statistics sheet, scoring 15 points, collecting 10 rebounds, and making 4 assists, followed closely by Cornelius Muri’s 16 points, Apia Muri’s 11 points, and Jesse Pine’s 11 points.

For the Amesii side, the ever-reliable Moses Lune was efficient on the court, registering 15 points and collecting 16 rebounds, backed by Enoch Raka’s 12 points, and Augustine Kaupa’s 10 points.

These two heavyweights will meet again in the first week of the playoffs, which promises to deliver another entertaining and competitive basketball fixture.

Meanwhile, both Tribes Coffee men’s and women’s teams are sitting first on the ladder in their respective divisions, followed by CivPac Amesii men’s and women’s teams.
