TFPNG on Good Governance and Transparency

ree

TOUCH Federation of Papua New Guinea (TFPNG) is urging all its affiliates to uphold good governance and transparency.

Earlier this year on 30th June, TFPNG officially closed affiliations for 2025, which included both renewal and new registrations. As of close affiliation, only 13 associations have affiliated, and these affiliates are now eligible to take part in the National Touch Championship next month (December 10-14) in Alotau.

A clear message was sent out to non-registered associations not to use TFPNG’s name in any unsanctioned tournament.

“Unregistered associations must not use TFPNG in any way, including running unsanctioned tournaments, etc,” said TFPNG.

The new TFPNG executives under the leadership of president Steven Kuimp also launched the federation’s five-year development plan, which clearly outlines good governance and transparency.

Kuimp, with regards to the participation of affiliations at the national touch championship, clearly stated that there would be no other affiliates apart from the 13 affiliated associations that will be taking part in the National Championship.

Non-affiliated associations have until next year to get their administration in order and affiliate at the earliest to avoid missing out on sanctioned TFPNG events.

Meanwhile, TFPNG, in response to a media article published earlier this week, stated clearly that the host association of a four-day tournament in Lae is not affiliated with TFPNG for this year.

It was without the knowledge of TFPNG that the concerned association went out and branded ‘sanctioned by TFPNG’ in securing sponsorships.

“Huon Touch is not currently affiliated with TFPNG and acquittal for hosting the National Touch Championship in 2024 is still outstanding to date,” the TFPNG president said.

“This has been raised at TFPNG executives’ level, and we will provide a response through the Huon Touch address accordingly.”
