Vabukori’s Taikone Davaras edged out the Fuka Flyers from UPNG with a 12-5 win to claim the Larkin Ad Focus Gerehu Firelight 7s U20 Men’s Cup on Sunday, 14th December 2025, at Port Moresby’s Bava Park.
The Davaras showcased their skills and resilience throughout the three-day tournament. They won two pool games and upset the reigning champions, UniTech Reds, in the semifinals, marching to the decider and stunning another serious contender, Fuka Flyers.
The Port Moresby South young guns (Davaras) went as underdogs in the big dance, but took things under control in the first seven minutes of intense battle, scoring a solo try and taking a slight 7-0 lead over the Flyers at the break.
In the second half, the eventual champions (Davaras) scored an unconverted try, and the Flyers responded with a consolation try in the dying minutes, capping off the match with the low-scoring dramatic 12-5 margin.
Meanwhile, the Storms team crushed the Sea Reds with a convincing 27-5 victory to claim the Firelight 7s U20 Women’s Cup, whilst the La Sallians took out the Men’s Cup after defeating Lae’s Papuan Compound (PC) Ravens.
