Fiji’s Devo Babas have retained the NiuPower KMHL Sports Tok 7s Rugby 9th edition after edging out the fast-finishing PC Ravens with a 22-12 win on Sunday, 5 April 2026, at Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
Known for their fast-paced, attacking style, rugby 7s flair was on full display as the Babas proved their dominance on the international stage, showcasing composure and experience to secure back-to-back titles.
The star-studded Fijians exerted their dominance in the first half, scoring 3 tries and keeping the Ravens at bay. However, the PC Ravens responded on the stroke of half-time, registering a 5-pointer and reducing the deficit to 17-5.
Lae’s Papuan Compound men regrouped in the second half and nearly pulled off an upset, but the Fijians held firm to close out the match. Despite losing to the reigning champions, the PC Ravens held their heads high.
The 15-man Devo Babas’ squad featured plenty of raw talent from Nasau village, blending experienced campaigners with emerging talent, who came to the nation’s capital and stamped their mark.
Devo Babas not only clinched the Sports Tok 7s consecutively but also won the Bitter Marist 7s in 2025, which is the biggest event in Fiji. The team from Naitasiri Province in Fiji’s Central Division is a force to be reckoned with in the 7-a-side format.
The Devo Babas made their debut in the Sports Tok 7s last year and immediately imposed their presence. They have remained unbeaten in the 2025 and 2026 tournaments, ultimately claiming the coveted title for the second consecutive year.
Meanwhile, Fiji’s Tagimoucia Ranadi outclassed the determined Silver Sirens outfit with a 15-0 victory to secure the women’s division. The high-flying Fijians and Fijianas flexed their muscles in the three-day Sports Tok 7s tourney and stole the limelight.
