The Maikuna pro-fighter, Jnr Kauko Raka will be competing in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) Pro-Tournament, which will see him fighting to defend his
International Pro-championship title.
Boxer Raka, 29-year-old (164cm tall), will challenge Indonesian champion Ricky Manufoe under 59kg-Super Featherweight (Professional) in the Gala Dinner Tournament – a day charity event which will be celebrated at Arawa Secondary School on Friday 15th April.
Being one of the best four boxers representing NCD to compete in the tournament, Raka is prepared to take the ring.
“Maikuna Team boxers have proven themselves here in NCD as the best”, said Coach Ephraim Montoru.
Montoru added that his three boys: Jamie Chang, Floyd Kunnopi, Fidelis Laia and Raka had put up the hard yards in training and were excited for the challenge against their opponents.
With all the experiences in his fights and hard trainings, Raka is well prepared to take the international challenge.
Known by the ring name as ‘PNG Prodigy’ Raka had fought about 101 amateur fights. He lost 13 and won 88. He also competed in 60 knockouts.
He had also fought 11 professional fights, which he won nine; lost two draw one and had participated in 8 knockouts.
When he became professional in 2017, he won his first eight pro-fights and earned PNG Championship title. Also, he fought two outstanding fights against former Filipino and Asian champions.
In his two pro-fights he defeated champions; Asian Mark John Yap and Filipino Roldan Aldea.
Given his experiences which he have accumulated over the years, him and his other fellow boxers and their coach departed POM to AROB on the 9th of April and are now in Bougainville in preparation for the exciting and competitive event which is set for this weekend.
