POMWSA Corporate Competition

The Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association (POMWSA) is in the middle-season of its Corporate Competition. The games are played at Amini Park every Saturday.

POMWSA is organizing and running this corporate competition. It is a slow-pitch corporate competition, where employees from different companies and organizations come together to participate on the weekend.

Though it is a women’s competition, male employees are also allowed to participate. It is sort of a mixed code, where both men and women can take part.

The participating teams are Brian Bell, Express Freight Management, BSP, NBC, Moni Plus, Cardno Emerging Markets, FX Business Center (Remington), PNG Power, Trukai Industries, Swire Shipping, NASFUND and Water PNG.

The goal of running this corporate competition is to provide an enjoyable and satisfying recreational softball experience to the employees of various corporate organizations and entities.

Also, it creates an avenue for the workers to know softball and of course, allow them to know each other and create friendship and camaraderie on a professional and personal level.

More importantly, the idea of establishing and running this corporate competition is to help the employees to keep themselves fit, active and healthy.

The Vice President of POMWSA, Carolyn Apelis said she was encouraged to see the employees and their families coming together to enjoy the game of softball.

“It is encouraging and exciting to see the employees showing interest to take part in the slow-pitch corporate competition,” Vice President of POMWSA Carolyn Apelis said.

Our main aim is to allow the workers to know softball and get to know themselves, and have fun together,” she added.

Meanwhile, while running and organizing the Corporate Competition, POMWSA is also doing a fundraising drive to revive its competition later this year.
