The Port Moresby Elite Basketball (PEB) competition commenced its 2025 preseason on Wednesday night, March 5th, at Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex.
Double-header fixtures were held between the Moni Plus Tamaraws and Mayawala in the opening game, followed by CivPac Amesii and Ultimax, capping off the preseason games to a flying start.
The newcomers Mayawala immediately made their presence felt on the court by thumping the Tamaraws with a 66-53 win, while the other entrants Ultimax beat the inaugural PEB champions Amesii with a 50-42 victory.
The women’s preseason games will be held next Wednesday (March 12th) at the same venue, with the teams yet to be announced.
The preseason will run throughout March, with the proper season expected to commence in April and finish the competition in August.
PEB Director Lawrence Lahari is pleased with the opening round of the preseason double-header matches and looks forward to next Wednesday, anticipating this season to be tough.
With the inclusion of a few new teams into the competition, the 2025 PEB season promises to be competitive and highly entertaining, showcasing the best basketball players in the nation’s capital.
