The Papua New Guinea Kickboxing Federation (PNGKBF) is preparing to host a major World Title Championship, PNG versus the Rest of the World, slated for September 13th, 2025, at the Rita Flynn Court Indoor Center in Port Moresby.
This international event will feature top PNG fighters against international opponents and is expected to elevate kickboxing in PNG onto the world stage.
The announcement comes after PNG was nominated to host the 2026 World Kickboxing Championships, with the final decision to be made in late 2025.
The international bout will see top fighters in PNG face off against the visiting fighters from nine countries across the world, with the event to coincide with PNG’s Golden Jubilee (50th Independence Anniversary) celebrations.
PNG Kickboxing Federation founding President, Stanley Nandex, mentioned that they are racing against time to stage the international event on home soil, anticipating the best fighters showcasing their skills and entertaining the fans.
“With limited time remaining, preparations must begin immediately. This historic event will also serve as an eye-opener for the government and relevant stakeholders to invest equally in all sporting codes where PNG has the potential to compete and succeed internationally,” Nandex said.
President Nandex confirmed that all selected fighters would assemble in Port Moresby this weekend to commence preparations, announcing that the names of the athletes, together with their professional fighter profiles, will be officially revealed in the coming days.
The PNGKBF looks forward to welcoming the international competitors, fans, and partners to witness a spectacular display of skill, discipline, and national pride during the one-day World Title Championship in the nation’s capital.
