NCDC Advances to PSNA Division 3 Grand Final

The National Capital District Commission defied all odds and made it to the Grand Final after defeating the Integrity of Political Parties with a 14-10 win in the Division 3 Semi-final clash of the Public Servants Netball Association (PSNA) on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, at the Rita Flynn courts.

Despite starting the season poorly and heading to the finals as the underdogs, the NCDC ladies found their groove and defeated the Department of Education in the quarterfinals and edged the Integrity of Political Parties in the semi-finals, booking a spot in the grand final.

Captain Bagau Guriba mentioned that she couldn’t believe how they managed to win games through setbacks to reach the big dance, commending her teammates for their courage and determination.

“We decided to train three days in a week and because of that, we played very well today (February 22nd) to win this game,” she said.

“We were in sixth place in the first round due to forfeits, but put ourselves together and performed well in round 2 and won most of our games, which put us up to the fourth spot.

“We played the quarterfinals last weekend against the Department of Education and defeated them and beat the Integrity of Political Parties in the semi-finals today (February 22nd) to reach the grand final.”

Ms. Guriba added that they would increase the pace of the training sessions and work on their weaknesses because the PM & NEC team will come prepared.

“The grand final will be tough, so we are planning to train four days a week and prepare ourselves for strengthening and endurance,” she said.

“Our mid-court is down so we need to improve in that area. Our defenders and shooters are okay. We are looking forward to facing PM & NEC on the weekend."

The NCDC women have nothing to lose, so they aim to go out there and have fun. If they win, it’s a bonus and if they lose, it’s a learning experience for the team. They are more composed and prepared to face the PM & NEC side on Saturday, March 1st, at Rita Flynn courts.
