NCD Touch set to stage Grand Final

ree

The National Capital District (NCD) Touch is raring to host its Grand Final on November 1st after concluding the Preliminary Final games in all its divisions on Sunday, 19th October 2025, at Bava Park in Port Moresby.

After eight months of fierce battle between the participating teams, the revamped competition is ready to stage its grand final across all divisions, ranging from the Open Men’s and Women’s, Open Mixed, Senior Men’s and Women’s, and Masters.

The grand final was scheduled to be hosted earlier than initially planned. However, the 50th independence anniversary celebrations had affected the competition to complete everything on time.

“We planned to complete the competition on October 26th, but the independence celebrations disrupted our grand final. Regardless, the grand finalists in every division are prepared to play on November 1st,” NCD Touch Secretary, Jack Kirewo said.

Most of the participants are new to the code, but they have adjusted their game and quickly learned the rules over the last couple of months, and look forward to playing in the decider, especially the qualified teams.

The National Capital District Commission (NCDC) had allocated K30,000 to the NCD Touch, as well as K40,000 for the National Touch Championship, which will be hosted from December 10-15 in Alotau, Milne Bay.

Secretary Kirewo, on behalf of President Nelson Kopunye and the NCD Touch executives, acknowledged the naming rights sponsor, NCDC, including Kopunye Lawyers, McBro Finance, and Digicel PNG, whose support was integral to the successful running of the competition.

In addition, the Provincial Team that will represent NCD to participate in the upcoming National Touch Championship in Alotau will be announced after the NDC Touch Grand Final on November 1st.

Mr. Kirewo appeals to the business houses in NCD to throw their support behind NCD Touch as they look to finalize the squad to represent the nation’s capital in the National Touch Championship in Alotau.
