NCD Touch ends 2025 season on a high note

ree

The National Capital District (NCD) Touch concluded its 2025 season successfully after hosting the Grand Final games across different divisions on Sunday, 2nd November 2025, at Port Moresby’s famous Bava Park.

After almost six months of competitive games, the cream of the crop in both men’s and women’s categories locked horns and battled for supremacy in their respective divisions on the weekend.

The talented athletes from the various divisions (men & women) rose to the occasion and strutted their stuff with skillful, fast-paced plays and executions, entertaining the fans and setting their sights on the top honors.

The NCD Touch executives initially planned to finish the competition in September. However, due to PNG’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations, it affected the competition, but they managed to end it peacefully.

Despite facing some hiccups and challenges throughout the season, President Nelson Kopunye praised his executive team, including the participating teams and the fans, for concluding the season successfully.

President Kopunye also congratulated the winning teams and commiserated the runners-up, while extending his appreciation to the technical/match officials, including the grounds men and security personnel.

Mr. Kopunye further acknowledged the platinum sponsor, National Capital District Commission (NCDC), including McBro Finance Limited, Digicel PNG, and Kopunye Lawyers, whose support had ensured the smooth operation of the competition until its completion.

Simon Nuabo, on behalf of the NCD Governor Honorable Powes Parkop, commended president Kopunye and his executives for delivering a successful season, announcing that the NCDC would continue its support next year.

The following are the results in both men’s and women’s divisions:

  • Open Women’s - Niusky Pacific Limited 4, Parliament 1

  • Open Men’s - Rascal Legends 12, PNG Motors 10

  • Open Mix - PNG Forest Authority 7, Rascal Legends 6

  • Senior Mix - NCDC Falcons 9, Parliament 8

  • Senior Mix Women’s - PNG Forest Authority 11, Total Energy 10

  • Senior Men’s - Niusky Pacific Limited 9, PNG Forest Authority 3

  • Senior Mix Men’s - Parliament defeated Rascal Legends in golden point

The NCD Touch was previously known as Capital Touch, but it ceased to exist. However, under the leadership of president Kopunye and his strong executive team, they revived the competition this year and delivered a peaceful and successful season, anticipating making it bigger and better next year.
