Mt Hagen Linstan Kickboxing Club Gearing for National Kickboxing Championship

ree

The Mt Hagen Linstan Kickboxing Club from Western Highlands Province is preparing to take part in the National Kickboxing Championship organized by Papua New Guinea Kickboxing Federation (PNGKBF) scheduled for July 26th, 2025, in Port Moresby.

In conjunction with the Western Highlands Kickboxing Association and PNG Kickboxing Federation, the Mt Hagen Linstan Kickboxing Club has selected six top kickboxers to participate in the upcoming National Selection Kickboxing showdown in the nation’s capital.

These six fighters, featuring 3 men and 3 women, will represent Western Highlands Province for the second time through self-sponsorship.

The PNG Kickboxing Federation recently concluded its Club Championship trial for the National Capital District last month. The best fighters were selected to represent NCD in the National Championship.

President and founder of Mt Hagen Linstan Kickboxing Club, Linstan Supeke, expressed concerns that despite representing Western Highlands proudly a few times, the fighters have not received any support.

“Many times, we dig in our pockets just to represent and carry the flag of Western Highlands Province in the kickboxing ring. It really burdens us all the time, including other sporting codes in the province,” Supeke said.

“The business houses and provincial government have been turning a blind eye to these athletes.

“Despite this setback, we are prepared to leave Mt Hagen on July 25th.

"Our preparations are going very well, and we are ready to face the top fighters right across the country.”

With less than a week to go before the championship is staged, Mr. Supeke has urged any kind individuals or corporate organizations to support the six fighters.

“We are appealing to any individuals, business houses, provincial governments, NGOs, or Government agencies to support the team,” Supeke pleaded.

“The support you give will make the dreams of the fighters come true as they aspire to make their names in kickboxing.”
