Following almost a decade of absence, Madang FC is preparing to rejoin the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in the 2026 season.
The club began a two-day trial at Laiwaden Oval yesterday (February 10) and will finish today (February 11).
The officials confirmed that a strong turnout was recorded on the opening day, with many young players showcasing raw talent and impressive performances.
“We have seen some good talent today (yesterday), and we expect even better performance from the boys tomorrow (today),” one official said.
The players attending the trials are mainly selected from teams that participated in the recent Governor’s Cup hosted across various Local Level Government (LLG) areas in the province.
The officials clarified that the LLGs that have yet to complete their games will still be given enough time for their players to be considered for selection.
Registration for the trials officially closed yesterday, allowing officials to focus fully on selecting the final Madang FC squad.
The final list of selected players is expected to be announced after the completion of the second day of trials today.
Madang FC has previously participated in the old National Soccer League (NSL), but left the competition. They are now looking to re-enter the renamed Premier Soccer League (PSL) competition in 2026.
