Local Companies donated T-shirts for a worthy cause

Local Companies in Lihir, New Ireland Province have collaborated with Trukai Industry for its 2023 Trukai Fun Run event by purchasing and donating T-shirts to Primary Schools.

The collaborative effort by Anitua Ltd, Petro Oil, Lihir Athletics, Nationwide Scaffolding Services (NSS), Lihir Civil Construction (LCC), Anitua Retail, Lihir Auto Services, Monadelphous, Lihir Police and Anitua Protective Services (APS) was purposely to raise funds for Cancer Screening Clinic for Kavieng General Hospital as well as Team PNG and there is no better way than involving the local school children for this worthy cause.

The schools are Sekunkun and Lakuplien Primary Schools and Lihir Secondary School and also the Lihir Athletics Association.

“Not only did we want to support Kavieng Hospital's Cancer Screening Clinic but it also gives us the opportunity to involve the local children to be part of this worthy cause. So, with this we decided to buy shirts for the entire grades seven and eight students of Lakuplien Primary School, so they can participate in the Trukai Fun Run," said General Manager of NSS and Balasie, Steven Parsons.

NSS donated 139 T-shirts to Lakuplien Primary School while LCC donated 330 T-shirts to Sekunkun Primary School and Anitua Retail will be sponsoring ten students from Lihir Secondary, with a shirt each.

"Our business has always been active in the community, supporting health and education, and this event ticks both boxes," said Steven Parsons.

"We hope the rest of the community turn out in numbers along with the students and everybody has a great day," he added.

The event will occur next week Sunday in Lihir, hosted by Anitua Ltd.
