The Mt Hagen Linstan Kickboxing Club, through the Western Highlands Kickboxing Association, in collaboration with the PNG Kickboxing Federation, will host its first-ever Highlands Regional Kickboxing Championship showdown from 14th - 15th February 2026.
This will be a first of its kind for Western Highlands Province to host such an event to showcase the raw talent in the Highlands region. The fight will be held at Rabiamul YC Hall, Mt Hagen, Western Highlands.
The inaugural championship features fighters from Hela, Mendi, Enga, Western Highlands, Jiwaka, Chimbu and Goroka, including a few fighters from MOMASE, with both male and female kickboxers to display their fighting skills in the ring.
The Western Highlands Kickboxing President and founder of Linstan Kickboxing Club, Linstan Andy Supeke, acknowledged the PNG Kickboxing Federation for allowing the provincial federation to stage the tournament.
“On behalf of the Western Highlands Kickboxing Association executives, I would like to thank Mr. Stanley ‘The Headhunter Nandex’, President of PNG Kickboxing Federation, for giving us the opportunity to run this event,” Supeke said.
The event aims to address some of the social issues affecting the youths in the communities, with the federation’s awareness campaign is as follows:
Reduce Drug & Alcohol Consumption;
Stop Violence against Women & Girls;
Mitigate Domestic Violence; and
Address Law & Order Issues.
Mr. Supeke mentioned that he and his executive team are looking forward to hosting the championship, but they need financial support to deliver a successful event.
“In order to host such an event, we need support. We are appealing to the Western Highlands Provincial Government, business houses, the Western Highlands Provincial Sports Council, NGOs & other stakeholders for their support in cash or kind,” he pleaded.
