The Lae Pirates Rugby Union Club received a timely sponsorship boost ahead of its 2026 Super 10s tournament, slated from 14-15 March at SCRUM Oval.
The club announced the sponsorship package in a press statement, thanking Pepsi for not only supporting the event but also becoming the platinum sponsor for two years.
“Lae Pirates Rugby Union Club proudly receives a K40,000 sponsorship from Pacific Industries Limited, manufacturer and authorized bottler of Pepsi in Papua New Guinea, who proudly supports the Super 10s tournament as the official naming rights sponsor from 2026-2027,” it read.
“The K40,000 sponsorship is a significant boost towards delivering a successful tournament and reinforces Pacific Industries’ commitment to supporting sport and community initiative in Lae.”
The club also acknowledged other sponsors for their support, which will help the organizers in delivering a successful tournament this weekend.
“Special appreciation to our other category sponsors that have also come on board to support the tournament – JKT Lim, Spectra Industrial Limited, Sasoriap Maintenance & Construction Co, Lae Biscuit Company, Irok Services, TWM Group, Design Scope Architects, CASO Events, Prima Small Goods, DS Energy PNG, and Treble Sound & Event,” it stated.
As part of the Lae Pirates Rugby Union Club’s commitment to the community, ten percent of all sponsorships, club registration, and other cash donations will be donated to the Angau Cancer Relief Society. This initiative reflects the club’s belief that rugby is not only about competition on the field, but also about supporting meaningful causes within the Lae community.
The tournament will bring together the best rugby talent from all eight core clubs affiliated with Morobe Rugby Union (MRU) and feature three main divisions – Open Men's, Women’s, and Under 20s, showcasing the depth of rugby across all levels of the game.
