IRC Hold Off NHC to Secure Grand Final Spot

The Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) edged the spirited National Housing Corporation (NHC) with a gutsy 26-25 victory during the Premier Division Semi-final of the Public Servants Netball Association on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, at Rita Flynn Courts. 

This match lived up to the hype and expectations of the fans, as both sides rose to the challenge and delivered an entertaining game that went down to the fire, leaving the fans screaming at the top of their lungs.

The game started poorly in the first quarter, with both sides struggling to get their shots in. However, the two teams found their rhythm in the second quarter and maintained the intensity of the match until the final quarter, ending the contest in a nail-biter. 

The IRC were the champions of Division One last season and in their maiden season in the 2025 Premier Division, they’ve made their presence known by booking a spot in the decider.  

IRC captain Veronica Douglas praised her teammates for competing and staying in the fight until the final whistle, mentioning that it was teamwork that earned them a hard-fought win.

“It was a very tough game throughout the four quarters. We were up by 1 point in the first quarter, drew in the second quarter, drew again in the third quarter, and then in the last quarter, we managed to win by 1 point. Teamwork made a lot of difference,” Veronica said.

She added that the grand final atmosphere would be different, so they needed to improve in a few areas, especially in the mid-court to put up a good challenge against the red-hot BPNG side this weekend (March 1st).
