Hekari Maintain Dominance

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) defending champions, Hekari United FC, have shown their championship credentials following a 2-0 win over the Port Moresby Strikers FC in their round 9 clash on Saturday, September 14th, 2024, at PNG Football Stadium in Port Moresby.

After a one-week break to facilitate the transfer of players and finalize the master team lists, the table-toppers resumed the second round of the competition with a strong showing.

The Strikers were equal to the task, competing valiantly and asking questions. They conceded a solo goal to the reigning champions (Hekari), leaving the half time score at 1-0.

David Muta’s men struggled a bit in the second half to score goals, given the strong defensive structure of the Strikers. However, Hekari’s relentless attack broke the Strikers’ defence, and they scored their second goal to seal the deal with a 2-0 win.

The MRDC-sponsored club’s both goals were scored by Pala Paul. The Central lad had a blinder, contributing to the red army’s unbeatable run in the competition after round 9.

Coach David Muta was pleased with the result, but said there was still room for improvement. Hekari averaged 2 goals per game and remained undefeated this season. Their best is yet to come, which is scary.

Meanwhile, in the second match of the round 9 double-header fixture, the Gulf Komara FC defeated the Admiralty FC with a 2-0 victory. The David Aua-coached men were too good against the newcomers in the competition.
