Harlequins Brush off Brothers

The round 9 battle of the Pepsi Capital Rugby Union heavyweights lived up to its billing as the Supreme Industries Harlequins edged the Kramer APAC Brothers with a 17-12 win in the men’s premier division on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, at Bava Park.

The arch-rivals of the CRU competition have lost their grip this season following the mass exodus of players to other rival clubs, but they are slowly finding their rhythm as the competition heads to the pointy end of the season.

The Harlequins took things under control and dominated the Brothers, taking a 10-0 lead at half-time. The Joe Kautu-coached men gave themselves a fighting chance to make a comeback in the second spell, but the jesters of Bava Park shrugged off the brethren with a hard-fought win.

These two powerhouse clubs (Brothers & Harlequins) used to dominate the CRU competition but the sudden rise of current premiers Valley Hunters, including the unpredictability of a few new entertainers in the likes of the MBB Marlins, Nova and Juggernauts, make this season interesting to watch.

Meanwhile, the SWG TSI Valley Hunters continued their unbeaten winning streak and topped the standings. Though the Hunters are primed to defend their title, seasoned campaigners like the Brothers and Harlequins must not be written off yet.

Dark horses, such as the Theodist MBB Marlins, Moni Plus Nova and Chemcare Juggernauts are also in the race to contend for the elusive silverware as the season intensifies towards the finals.
