The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Futsal Men’s Champions League is gearing up to kick off its third edition of the tournament today (15th November 2025).
Six futsal clubs will compete for regional glory, with the matches to be hosted at Vodafone Arena in Suva, Fiji.
The participating teams are Suva FC, New Caledonia AS PTT (defending champions), Mataks FC from the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu’s Southern Legions FC, PNG’s Gulf Komara FC, and Waikato Rapids from New Zealand.
Gulf Komara FC, who are the inaugural champions of the first-ever PNG Futsal competition this year, are setting their sights on claiming the title and representing PNG with pride.
The PRK-sponsored franchise is making history as the first team from Papua New Guinea to participate in an OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League this year.
Coach David Aua noted that since it was the club’s first time to participate in such a tournament, they wanted to learn more about it and put their best foot forward.
“For us, it’s a learning stage and an experience we can take back home to build the sport within our country,” he said.
“Consistency is key for us. The boys are ready for the challenge, and we’ll give it our best shot.”
Captain Troy Dobbin added that the boys are ready to make their debut on the regional stage and learn as much as possible.
“Our preparations have been good leading up to the tournament. We are getting things together and ready to compete,” he said.
“As first-timers to compete in this tournament, it’s very special for the team. We are ready to compete and gain a lot of experience.”
While Gulf Komara FC may start as underdogs, given their lack of experience at the tournament, coach Aua and skipper Dobbin remain positive about their chances.
