Gr10 drop-out Taekwondo Master graduate with Law Degree

Master Colland Kokin 4th Dan Black Belt of UPNG Taekwondo Club under World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) and a grade 10 drop out from the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) was a proud recipient of Bachelor of Law Degree among the 135 Law Graduands who have graduated yesterday with other graduands of Diploma in Law Prosecution at the 2023 UPNG 68th Graduation Ceremony at Sir John Guise Indoor Stadium.

“I am actually a grade 10 drop out”, said Master Colland Kokin.

“I completed my grade 10 some years back and then after that, I stayed 3 to 4 years doing nothing at home. Then after two (2) years, I decided to go back to school, but the only way I have to continue my education is through Bougainville Open Campus. I spent three (3) years at the Open Campus and then I applied for my Diploma in Law Prosecution,” said Master Kokin, who applied for a Diploma in Law Prosecution in 2012.

As an active Taekwondo PNG Representative during his studies back in 2013, his involvement in Taekwondo usually took him away from his studies and out of the country as well.

“I usually travel a lot because of my engagement with the National Team to many countries of the world like New Caledonia, Australia, Wallis and Futuna, among others, to represent the country”, said Master Kokin.

Although his education journey was delayed because of his involvement with the Taekwondo National Team that took him away from his studies and country, he managed to balance his education and sport life to eventually obtain his Bachelor of Law Degree.

“It’s very challenging for me but the most important thing for me is I put my priorities right,” said Master Kokin.

Meanwhile, Kokin is excited and looking forward to his next chapter which is the Legal Training Institute and said that his achievement today is dedicated to his family. Attending the graduation was his mother Babra Moi Kokin.
