Newcomers, Finschhafen Bavarians FC, registered their first win after defeating NCD FC with a 2-0 margin in Round 2 of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) today (June 3rd) at PNG Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
The two debuting clubs were searching for their first win in the semi-professional competition after losing to Lae City FC (NCD) and Kula FC (Bavarians), respectively, in the opening round last Saturday (May 30th).
With their eyes on the 3 competition points, the National Capital District flagship team started the match strongly. However, the Morobeans swung the momentum and hit the scoreboard first through Freddy Steven, taking a 1-0 lead at the break.
Both sides lifted their intensity in the second half. After a physical 80 minutes of contest in the scorching heat, the Bavarians scored their second goal through Gaseng Anam and put the game beyond doubt.
Morobe’s Finschhafen Bavarians have bounced back into the winner’s circle following last week’s loss to Milne Bay’s Kula FC and look forward to maintaining their winning streak in Round 3 when they meet Gulf Komara FC.
