The Brothers Rugby Union Club (BRUC) is one of the foundational clubs established in 1974 that has a rich and successful history, imposing its presence in the PNG Rugby Union (PNGRU) circle for over half a century.
At the recently concluded NiuPower KMHL Sports Tok Rugby 7s tournament held during the Easter weekend (April 18-20), the Kramer APAC Brothers fielded three teams featuring the Under 20, Open Men and Women.
The Kramer APAC-sponsored club has been a force to be reckoned with in the annual tournament, participating in the seven-aside event since its inception and winning its first Sports Tok 7s title in 2021.
Despite the mass exodus of players to rival clubs in the CRU competition, especially in the men’s premier division, the Brothers’ teams performed strongly in the tourney, with the open men’s bowing out in the Plate semi-finals, while the U20 boys finished as runners-up in the Cup finals and the open women claimed the Cup title.
While the Sisters (women’s team) became the champions, both the open men and U20 teams shied away from reaching the Plate and Cup deciders, respectively. Regardless, the three Kramer APAC-backed sides stamped their authority in the three-day tournament.
With the Sports Tok 7s done and dusted, the Kramer APAC Brothers (U20, Premier Men & Women) are now focusing on the CRU competition, aiming to exert their dominance and fight for the coveted premiership trophy in their respective divisions.
