The depleted APAC Brothers proved too strong against the Supreme Industries Harlequins, pulling off a 19-7 victory to end the Capital Rugby Union (CRU) preseason on a high note on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, at Bava Park.
Despite the mass exodus of players to rival clubs, the Brothers got down to business and stamped their mark over the weekend, sending a warning to the competition that they are still a force to be reckoned with.
The emerging players from both the A-Grade and B-Grade divisions carried the mantle from the renegades and held their own, showcasing the fighting spirit to contend for the top honors against the defending champions, Valley Hunters, Harlequins, Uni Piggies, etc…
After 40 minutes of slugfest contest in the first half, the brethren used their speed-stars and flair to score two tries, taking a 12-0 lead over the jesters of Bava Park.
The second half was intense and physical as both sides fought to exert their dominance. The Brothers scored another five points and the Harlequins bagged a consolation try, reducing the deficit to a respectable margin.
Coach Joe Kautu was pleased with the Brothers’ rising talents, including a few experienced players led by battle-hardened Tisa Kautu, who were very courageous against the strong Harlequins’ pack.
The APAC-backed Brothers clinched three wins and recorded one draw and one loss, completing their CRU preseason campaign successfully and looking forward to round 1 of the proper season.
