Women's Football Competition Begins

The 2024 Women's Conference Soccer League (WCSL) competition started on Saturday, December 7th, 2024, with the competition scheduled to run for three months. 

The WCSL competition has showcased talented and promising female footballers over the weekend, who are eager to make their mark in the four conferences this season.  

Defending champions, the Hekari United FC put on a compelling case during the triple-header of the southern region fixture in Port Moresby, drubbing the POM Souths FC with a comprehensive margin of 16-0. 

In the second game, the Bernice FC brushed off the Tarangau FC with a 3-2 win, while the Allies FC held off the PRK Mungkas FC to a gritty 1-0 victory.

The other three conferences also delivered entertaining games on the weekend at their respective centers in Mt Hagen, Lae and AROB, running alongside the southern region.  

PNGFA competition manager Paul Isorua said the opening round of the four regional conferences turned out okay, despite a few hiccups.

Meanwhile, the second round of the WCSL competition will be held on Wednesday, December 11th.
