Stingerz sting Bears

In a highly entertaining Port Moresby Men’s Softball Competition, the Stingerz stung the Bears with a 7-5 victory during their first game of round 2 clash on Sunday, June 30th, 2024, at Softball Diamonds in Port Moresby.

With the experienced batters and seasoned fielders from both sides, the proceedings of the contest began on a fiery start and ended in a nail-biting thriller, which saw the Stingerz pull off a slight 2-point win over the Bears.

Both teams have had a similar season, with only 2 points separating them on the ladder. It was a very tough and competitive match that went down to the wire, leaving the fans on the edge of their seats.

Stingerz captain, Glen Stiggins, expressed excitement about the win but admitted that there was more work to be done.

“I’m happy with the performance. The outcome wasn’t what we expected, but the boys managed to pull through. That fell back to our training; we train hard and try to compete every round,” Stiggins said.

The Stingerz are sitting 7th on the ladder with 10 points, registering five wins and losing six games, while the Bears are in 5th spot with 12 points, recording six wins and tasting five losses.
