Trevor Solu aims to bring his game to another level this season as he prepares to don the SP PNG Hunters jersey for the fourth season.
Solu made his debut for the Hunters in 2023 following a breakout season with the Kroton Hela Wigmen in 2022, where they won the Digicel Cup that year.
The Southern Highlander has been in and out of the Hunters due to quality players like Wartovo Puara Junior and Judah Rimbu owning the spot, where he recorded 19 games in three seasons.
Known as a sharp conversion kicker who notched up 10 games last season, Solu is confident of cementing the dummy-half spot and leading the SP Brewery-backed team to the finals.
“We’ve had a very good preseason. This year, I believe we will make the finals. We’ve long-term and short-term goals, and our aim this season is to reach the finals,” he said.
The goal-kicking ace will be supported by the 2024 Wamp Nga Hagen Eagles premiership-winning hooker, Lynchill Kiap.
Solu will have a competition with Kiap to secure the starting role, while other emerging dummy-halves are also eyeing the rake position.
The Mendi Central lad will partner debutant Joel Gena and experienced campaigners Jamie Mavoko and Sanny Wabo in the spine as the Hunters chase their second title this season.
PNG Hunters will host the visiting Central Queensland Capras in Round 1 of the Hostplus Cup on Sunday, 8 March 2026, at Santos National Football Stadium.
