The 2023 Simbu Governor’s Cup, CBL Simbu Warriors selection trials, are set to kickoff at two different districts with male and female teams ready to take the field from October 27th-29th in a quest for selectors to identify and select top players for the provincial representative team (CBL Simbu Warriors) to take part in the Digicel-ExxonMobil Cup next year.

The Simbu Warriors' trial games will see 40 men's and 8 women’s teams from all districts of Simbu Province participating.

The male teams are equally divided into Eastern and Western Pools. The Eastern Pool will play at Muaina Oval in the Sinesine Yonglomugl District, while the Western Pool will play at Kerowagi Oval in Kerowagi District.

The three-day trials will only feature the men’s play offs, while the women standby for the finals. The top four teams from Western and Eastern Pools will go into the finals, which will be held at Minz Oval in Jiwaka from November 2nd-5th.

The presentation and selection list for the Simbu Warriors will be announced straight after the grand final on November 5th.

The Cup challenge is organized at various venues because the Kundiawa Dickson's Oval, the home of the Warriors, is currently undergoing construction to meet the standard stadium requirements in order for the Warriors to gain re-entry into the 2024 Digicel-ExxonMobil Cup season.
