Santos Cup kicks off round one

The women’s Santos Cup competition kicked off its first ever games in a triple header that saw the Lae Snax Tigers, Mt Hagen Eagles and central Dabaris women become the first victors in their respective matches against the Port Moresby Vipers, ENB Agmark Gurias, and Goroka Lahanis on Saturday, 3rd of August, 2024, at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.

In the icebreaking match, the Lae Snax Tigers defeated the Port Moresby Vipers with 14-10 in a nail-biting contest.

The second match saw the Mt Hagen Eagles trump the Gurias with a 26-4 score to register the biggest match point and margin.

And in the final game of the afternoon, the Central Dabaris outclassed the Goroka Lahanis with a 14-04 score.

The round two fixtures will see the Rabaul Gurias meet the Port Moresby Vipers on Saturday, 10th August, at the Queen Elizabeth Park in Rabaul, while the other two matches will be on Sunday where the Tigers host the Lahanis at Lae League Ground, and the Dabaris go head-to-head with the Hagen Eagles at NFS.
