The Port Moresby Athletics Association (POMAA) held its ‘End of the Year Dinner Night’ at Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex Foyer yesterday evening (30th December) to officially cap off its incredible but challenging 2025 sporting calendar.
Over 30 athletes attended the event, including coaches, officials, and distinguished guests, honoring the achievements of the athletes this year. The athletes were presented with a certificate of participation
The clubs representing Port Moresby Athletics Association and National Capital District were NEST, Kokofa, POMIS, Southern Stars, para-athletes, and throwers.
The athletes from POMAA represented the National Capital District and participated in the recently concluded National Athletics Championships hosted by the National Sports Institute in Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province.
POMAA’s athletes have performed exceptionally well in the national championships, winning medals - such as Gold, Silver, and Bronze - in the track and field events, and setting new individual and team records.
POMAA President Vincent Onne Vagi acknowledged the sponsors, thanking the athletes for their outstanding performances this year and extending gratitude to the coaches, officials, and team management for their unwavering support.
President Vagi encouraged and challenged the athletes to work hard and stay disciplined at all times, stressing that these values would help them improve their performance and represent PNG on the international stage.
Mr. Vagi further noted that, with the support of his Vice President Nelson Stone and their newly elected executive team, they look forward to growing POMAA and making the association better and more competitive in 2026.
