The Port Moresby Corporate Basketball Competition is back, and this year’s edition is bigger than ever, with 29 teams participating, an increase from 20 last year.
New teams joining this year include the TCB Travel, National Judiciary & Staff Services, CPL Group, IRC, Water PNG, Islands Petroleum, Weatherman Capital Advisors Limited, Kopunye Lawyers, Pacific Helicopters, TISA Bank, and NCSL.
The competition serves as a unique platform for companies to engage their staff, families, and the wider community. It provides an environment for them to enjoy the game of basketball while promoting an active lifestyle.
Games Coordinator Jordan Sere emphasized that the competition aims to promote an active, healthy lifestyle and thanked the teams for their participation.
“We would like to thank the corporate organizations for supporting the federation in its drive to promote an active lifestyle while also creating the opportunity for companies, their staff, and families to enjoy the game, network, and promote their business and products,” he said.
The competition is currently in Round 1, game 8, with each pool of teams playing twice across two rounds before advancing to the finals. This year, the organizers plan to run two separate seasons:
Season 1: Concludes at the end of June with finals; and
Season 2: Begins in August and ends in November.
The competition structure will also allow time for the selection and preparation of teams representing Port Moresby at the Masters tournament on the Gold Coast in November 2026.
The Port Moresby Corporate Basketball competition continues to grow as a highlight in the corporate sporting calendar, fostering camaraderie, healthy competition, and community engagement.
