PNG Lewas arrive in Nepal ahead of ICC Women’s T20 Global Qualifiers

The Papua New Guinea Lewas safely arrived in Nepal, touching down yesterday, Sunday, 12 January 2026, as preparations intensify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.
The tournament, which runs from January 14th to February 1st 2026, will be hosted at the TU Cricket Ground and Upper Hulpani Cricket Ground in Nepal, bringing together some of the world’s leading associate women’s teams as they compete for qualification to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup England & Wales 2026.
Following their arrival, the Lewas will settle into final preparations, including recovery sessions and on-ground training, ahead of a demanding fixture schedule.

Sunday, 18 January: Ireland vs PNG
Tuesday, 20 January: PNG vs Bangladesh
Saturday, 24 January: PNG vs Namibia
Monday, 26 January: USA vs PNG
The matches will be played across morning and afternoon sessions as per the official ICC fixture schedule.
Cricket PNG has expressed confidence in the squad’s preparation and readiness, with the team arriving early to adjust to local conditions and fine-tune strategies ahead of their opening match.
The ICC Women’s T20 Global Qualifier represents a critical pathway for the PNG Lewas as they continue to build momentum on the international stage and pursue qualification for the Women’s T20 World Cup.
