The Papua New Guinea Women’s National Team, proudly known as the PNG Bilums, departed Port Moresby for Fiji today (23 February 2026) via Brisbane to compete in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Oceania Qualifiers from February 27th to March 5th.
The Bilums will open their campaign against Vanuatu on Friday, February 27, before facing hosts Fiji on March 2 and New Caledonia on March 5. All Group matches will be played at Govind Park.
Head Coach Eric Komeng said the team had put in strong preparations and is ready to embrace the challenge ahead.
“The girls have prepared well over the past month, and the focus in camp has been excellent. We understand the level of competition will be high, but we are looking forward to the challenge,” Komeng said.
“Every team is fighting for the same goal — a place at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027. Our players are motivated and determined to give their best for Papua New Guinea.”
The qualifiers form part of the pathway toward the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 in Brazil. PNG will be aiming to secure a top-two finish in their group to progress to the final stage of the competition in New Zealand in April.
With a blend of experienced campaigners and emerging young talent, the Bilums carry both confidence and belief as they step onto the regional stage once again.
The Papua New Guinea Football Association calls on all Papua New Guineans at home and abroad to rally behind the Bilums as they represent the nation with pride, passion, and determination.
