Hekari hold off Kula, recording three wins

Updated: Jun 11

The Hekari United FC registered a hard-fought 1-0 win over Kula FC in Round 4 of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) on Wednesday, June 10th, at PNG Football Stadium in Port Moresby.

Following last week’s win, Hekari came with high energy to dominate the contest. However, the resilient Kula outfit was equal to the task, going down by one goal in Port Moresby’s scorching heat.

Milne Bay’s Kula FC impressed in the opening minutes but lost their mojo, with Hekari swinging the momentum and controlling the possession. Twenty minutes before half-time, the MRDC-backed team broke the deadlock, leading the contest 1-0.

The goals were hard to come by in the second half, though a couple of chances were created for both sides. The two teams showcased flashes of brilliance in a few instances, but the finishing part was poor, with Hekari defending their lead until the final whistle.

Hekari opened their campaign with a dominant 3-0 win over Madang United FC. However, the “Red Army” lost to the Port Moresby Strikers in round 2 and bounced back in the winner’s circle last week, tasting three wins and one loss.

The Hekari United FC anticipates securing four wins when they travel to Lae to meet the FC Morobe Wawens in Round 5 of the PSL on Saturday, June 13th, at the PNG Football Association Academy in 11 Mile.
