Madang United FC Named 30-Man Squad for 2026 PSL Season

Madang United Football Club has expressed confidence in its squad following the announcement of a 30-man train-on team ahead of the 2026 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.

Team Manager Terence Sisu said while the team showed great potential, players must improve their fitness levels to meet the demands of structured training programs and the intensity of competitive matches.

“I expect improvements progressively, both individually and as a team. With a squad made up mostly of emerging talent, it will be a challenge, but attitude will determine how far we go,” Sisu said.

The club confirmed that key appointments were made earlier this year, with Sisu taking on the role of Team Manager and Amos Romo appointed as Head Coach, supported by two assistant coaches, David Geladia and Nigel Malagian.

In a significant move, the team has officially changed its name from Madang Football Club to Madang United Football Club, reflecting unity in the sport across the province. The name change follows advice from Madang Governor Ramsey Pariwa, emphasizing a collective provincial identity through football.

Sisu highlighted that the squad is made up of homegrown talents representing districts and urban areas across Madang, describing it as a major opportunity for local players to step onto a bigger stage.

He also acknowledged the importance of community backing, noting that Madang has built a strong football identity over the years that must now be harnessed.

“Football is part of who we are. It reflects our identity and values, and building the next generation of youth is everyone’s responsibility,” he said.

The team manager described the selection process as challenging, particularly in identifying and bringing in talent from rural areas.

The district selection (15 players) includes Robin Para (Sumkar), Lavi Siawa (Usino), Conrad Lambu (Ramu), Gabston Kalam (Usino), Robin Lambu (Ramu), Oswald Bade (Madang), Beno Boniam (Rai Coast), Sozoh Mandari (Bogia), Kumec Mopa (Bogia), Nilus Ginarem (Madang), Jacob Berigami (Sumkar), Luke Sangh (Sumkar), Stanley Arek (Sumkar), Pascha Saul (Rai Coast), and John Kasap (Bogia).

The urban selection (15 players)  includes Jessie Mandari, Graham Berigami, Michael Tole (Jnr), Freeman Giwi, Harry Dumar, James Jangi, Raymond Romo, Yalov Puy, Stahl Gubag, Mclaren Buren, Darren Steven, Papalau Awele, Vanya Malagian, Cyril Akui, and Nicky Bonjec.
