The Lae City FC made a late comeback to tie a 1-1 goal with the United Highlands FC in round 19 of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) mid-week clash today (22nd October 2025) at PNG Football Stadium in Port Moresby.

It was a game of two halves where the United Highlands dominated the first 45 minutes of the 90-minute contest, and Lae City swung the momentum in the second half to level the goal, ending the match in a stalemate.

The Morobean men had the advantage of playing with the wind, but failed to capitalize and take things under control. They had their moments to open up the game, with a couple of their goal-scoring opportunities going begging.

Wrestling against the breeze, the United Highlands did not falter but took their chances and put their feet down. In the 20th minute of the seesawing affair, Harry Thomas netted the opening goal, giving the Highlanders a 1-0 lead at the interval.

The competition leaders came to their own in the second stanza and put the United Highlands under pressure. Through relentless attack, Lae City got a direct penalty in the final quarter of the game to equalize the goal and cap off the match in a thrilling cliffhanger.

Lae City maintains the pole position, while United Highlands sits in the 7th spot. As the PSL regular season draws to a close with the playoffs looming, teams are fighting hard to secure their spots in the top 4.
