The PRK Gulf Komara FC were crowned the 2025 Premier Soccer League (PSL) Champions after securing a 3-1 win over the determined Agmark FC Morobe Wawens in the Grand Final yesterday evening (14th December) at PNG Football Stadium, Port Moresby.
Gulf Komara had a strong campaign, finishing third on the ladder with 40 points. They were one of the best offensive teams in the 2025 PSL competition, averaging 2 goals per game and outmuscling their opponents.
Though the visiting Wawens from Lae were equal to the task in the first half, the host (Komara) finals’ experience came in handy as they netted two crucial goals to lead the contest 2-0 at the interval.
The second half turned into a tug-of-war as the two teams wrestled to have ball possession and field position for an upper hand. Wawens hit the scoreboard first to give themselves a fighting chance, but Komara hit back to put the game beyond doubt.
Coach David Aua credited the players for their consistency throughout the season, noting that the players challenged themselves to be better this year, rising from last year’s heartbreak and mending their broken hearts with a maiden title.
Established in 2018, Komara made their first grand final appearance last year against the Hekari United FC but lost to the reigning champions. This year, they reached the decider again and redeemed themselves with championship glory.
The David Aua-coached side also won the inaugural Futsal competition this year. As champions, they represented PNG and debuted at the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Men’s Futsal Champions League last month.
The PRK-sponsored Gulf Komara FC snapped their eight-year title drought and delivered an amazing 2025 season to remember, and look forward to making their mark again next season, both in the PSL and Futsal competitions.
