The Kapomanda Ipi Park Sisters were crowned the 2025-2026 NCD Governor’s Cup Women’s Champions after a hard-fought 12-8 victory over Tobalu Girls on Saturday, 10 January 2026, at Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.
With an increased prize money up for grabs, both teams left everything on the field as they went at each other to fight for the top honors.
After some minutes of gritty contest, Kapomanda broke the deadlock with a converted try. However, Tobalu hit back moments later, trailing behind 2 points (6-4) at half-time.
The Tobalu Girls scored first in the second half, leapfrogging Kapomanda for the first time. However, the Hohola ladies bagged a match-winning try in the dying minutes to claim the ultimate prize.
Led by pioneer PNG Orchid, Cathy Neap, and a few girls from Santos Women’s Cup, the Ipi Park Sisters proved their mettle to upset the Tobalu Girls.
The Ipi Park Queens walked away with K15,000 prize money plus the NCD Governor’s Cup, finishing their 2025-2026 NCD Governor's Cup campaign on a positive note.
