Updated: Oct 20, 2023

Marie Kaipu kicked in 10 goals for the Hekari United FC during the Women’s Conference Soccer League Semifinal, defeating the North Bougainville FC with a 25-0 scoreline on Saturday, October 14th at PNG Football Stadium to book a spot in the Grand Final.

The Hekari United FC thrashed the North Bougainville FC. It was a walk in the park football for Hekari as their quick passes and plays, field defense and standing outplayed the Bougainville FC, raining in goals after goals.

The biggest star of the afternoon was Marie Kaipu. She effortlessly kicked in ten goals, backed by Ramona Padio, who scored five goals.

Marie's performance is not a surprise as she lives up to her name as PNG’s Golden Girl. The 25-year-old from Gulf is a prolific goal scorer on both national and international levels. She was the Golden Boot Award recipient in the 2020 PNG Women’s National Soccer League’s (WNSL) Southern Conference, where she scored 29 goals in 10 games.

Hekari FC Coach Erickson Komeng was happy with Marie’s performance and the team’s overall performance.

“Marie is definitely a leader that leads in every aspect of the game. Her goals today shows the quality and skills that she possesses and the leadership she brings to the team, both on and off the field,” coach Komeng said.

Komeng stated that he was pleased with his team’s performance, as this win was a boost of confidence for them as they prepare to defend their title.

“It definitely feels good to have the win. We have been working so hard and it has shown. We are looking forward to defending our championship from last year. This win will boost our confidence as we prepare to defend our last year’s championship title.”

The Hekari United will take on the Lae City Dwellers in the Grand Final of the 2023 Women’s Conference Soccer League on Saturday, October 21. Bougainville will play the Mommers FC to fight for third place.
