The Hekari United FC booked a spot in the big dance after thumping Fiji’s Ba Women’s FC in the 2025 Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Women’s Champions League Semi-final clash today (May 15) at Stade Pater in Papeete, Tahiti.
Both sides delivered a very entertaining and tough contest in the opening 45 minutes of play, leveling the score at 1-1. Hekari picked up their ascendency in the second stanza, dominating the Fijian women with an emphatic 6-1 victory.
The Erick Komeng-coached side dominated possession from the kick-off but was held to 1 goal by Ba FC. However, the Reds found their groove in the second half and put on a clinical performance, advancing to the biggest stage.
Potent striker and prolific goal scorer, Marie Kaipu, filled up the statistics sheet, scoring two goals and making three assists. Kaipu picked up the brace, Nelly Elipas scored a hat-trick, and Phylis Pala bagged a solo goal, helping Hekari secure their place in the final.
This will be Hekari’s second consecutive grand final appearance against the Auckland United FC (2024-2025), finishing runners-up last. Hekari will seek redemption while Auckland aim to defend their title.
The MRDC-sponsored club will go head-to-head with the Auckland United FC in the 2025 OFC Women’s Champions League Grand Final on Saturday, May 17th, at Stade Pater.
